Keep refrigerated. Place the corned beef brisket in a 5-quart pan or dutch oven. Simmer meat and spices in enough water to cover product for about 1 hour per pound. Cook until internal temperature reaches 180 degrees F. Use a meat thermometer placed in the center of the corned beef to properly check internal temperature.
